On the Passing of Alan Rickman and the Adaptation of Books to Film

We have lost another great figure. David at Letters from the Edge of Elfland has written a nice tribute. I thought this would be a good moment to say goodbye to Professor Snape, and to highlight David’s interesting work thinking about rooted literature.

    Greetings, Brenton,

    Its an irony that Alan Richman, who played the Sheriff of Nottingham in “Prince of Thieves”, died so close to Brian Bedford, who voiced Robin Hood in the Disney cartoon (my personal long time favorite!). May they both rest in peace.

      I didn’t get that neat little Robin Hood tidbit. Lots of Hollywood dying this week, so it was hard to keep up!
      I did see the repub, and was pleased (I hope I tweeted it out).
      Do you have a “Call for Stories” that I could send out?

        Yeah, there’s like a Hollywood death rate epidemic or something!! I was just waiting around for the Trekkie memorials over Leonard Nimoy beamed out of our sphere last February…then the plot thickened!!
